This is sort of tangential but also both 6 and 7 both have the same achievement, just with a different name, and it is possibly the worst achievement known to man. It just sucks that game is stuck at 1080p, whereas FM7, while it stutters a bit on PC, at least has a 4K locked 60 mode on console. For whatever reason FM6 connected with me more. I just have struggled with FM7 because of the progression. Great game, and I can’t wait to see what the next gen reboot brings. And, the fact that it’s Forza Motorsport 7 has really made me appreciate it far more than I did before. In any case, I write all of this to ultimately say that, while I don’t think that I’m yet at a point where video games are my “main” pastime and means of destressing again, I am glad that I’ve found a game that can help me out with that, and be that easygoing, laid back, and digestible outlet that I needed in this space.

And, the Horizon series is truly wonderful, but doesn’t scratch that Motorsport itch. Games like AC: Competizione, and Project Cars 2 are both splendid, but I also can’t really “chill” with either of those games either I really want to wait to get a nice wheel before I dive into them again. The sights, the sounds of the cars, how they resonate against the different walls and underpasses across various circuits, the incredibly well done sensation and responsiveness on controller, the details, the still pretty insane dynamic weather and skybox… It all just came together beautifully for me tonight. Being able to just sit back, relax, and almost “turn my brain off” and drive some of my favorite cars (the C7 ZR1 fucking SHREDS in this game, holy shit), was absolutely what the doctor ordered, and what I very much needed. And, while I still do believe that Motorsport 6 edges it out ever slightly, I can now say definitively that I very much enjoy Motorsport 7 after finally getting back into it today.

Graphics out of the way, the game itself is just… Fun as hell to me now, which is a sentiment past me didn’t share. It’s also still one of the cleanest and sharpest looking games I’ve personally experienced at 4K, whilst being pretty light on my PC despite everything being cranked up to max settings. First, let me just say that FM7 is a gorgeous, GORGEOUS video game, and one that I would dare say still very much rivals the most recent sim games that have come out. So, I decided that in order to potentially pull myself out of this, I needed a game in which I could just hop on and play for 30 minutes to an hour at the most, not really have to think about much whilst playing, and easily hop back off with no sense of frustration nor exhaustion from me.Īfter finally managing to finish downloading the game after 3 days of installing this hefty fucker, I log on, see that all of my data has been carried over from my Xbox account, set my graphics to where I want them, and start playing.
I’ve been kind of in a lull lately with video games, where I just haven’t really felt like playing much of anything, nor even caring about games in general, my interests being elsewhere.
